EThekwini Mayor Councillor Cyril Xaba signed a tripartite agreement with officials from the City of Bremen (Federal Republic of Germany), and Windhoek (Republic of Namibia) on 26 September.

The historic signing took place at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre and will see the three cities working together to focus on climate change, water and sanitation, renewable energy, education and skills development as well as waste management.

During the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, Mayor Xaba said the agreement marked a new chapter in the three cities relationships. He also warmly welcomed the delegations from Namibia and Germany, saying he is pleased to share the City’s hospitality, vibrant culture, and stunning natural beauty with them.

The Mayor of Bremen Dr Andres Bovenschulte expressed his pleasure and appreciation for the three cities standing together having signed a Letter of Intent to tackle the challenges of the future together. Mayor of Windhoek Queen Amogano shared her sentiments saying: “We are taking a significant step forward in our shared journey. This agreement represents not only a formal bond between our cities, but also a renewed commitment to innovation, mutual learning, and sustainable development.”

The delegation also visited service delivery sites around the City namely, Innovate Durban and ITRUMP.
