Green Youth Indaba is Back for its 9th Edition, Uniting Young Voices for Environmental Action
Durban, 05 June 2024 – The Green Youth Network is excited to announce the return of the 9th annual Green Youth Indaba which will be hosted on 13-14 June 2024 at the Durban Exhibition Centre in KwaZulu Natal under the theme Nurturing Entrepreneurship, Cultivating Skills, and Attracting Global Green Economy Investments for Job Creation.
In celebration of World Environment Day on the 5th of June and as South Africa will commemorate Youth Day on June 16, the Green Youth Indaba 2024 will highlight the significance of these days as a part of the programme with a specific focus on young people and the environment. This year’s theme puts to the spotlight the critical role of the youth in driving economic growth through sustainable practices.
Hosted by the Green Youth Network, a non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing youth interests and fostering sustainable skills development within the green economy, the Indaba offers a platform for young people to exchange ideas, share experiences, and collaborate on innovative solutions. Participants will engage in discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities focused on topics such as plastic waste solutions, water conservation strategies, and environmental sustainability.
A key feature of the event is the Green Youth Innovators Pitch Competition, which showcases innovative green technology solutions developed by young entrepreneurs across South Africa. This competition aims to amplify the impact of youth-led innovations, promote entrepreneurship, and contribute to the growth of the green economy.
“The Green Youth Indaba is more than just an event; it’s a movement that brings together young minds dedicated to creating sustainable solutions for our planet. We believe in the power of the youth to drive meaningful change. By providing a platform for young innovators and leaders to collaborate and share their ideas, we are not only addressing environmental challenges but also encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit and skills development necessary for a just transition to a green economy. Our goal is to inspire and equip youth to be at the forefront of environmental sustainability, driving job creation and attracting global investments that will benefit both our economy and our environment,” said Sanele Zulu, CEO and Founder of the Green Youth Network.
