Shincheonji Church of Jesus, Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shincheonji), led by Chairman Man-Hee Lee, marked its 40th anniversary on 14th March 2024 with a commemorative ceremony and service at the Cheongpyeong Shincheonji Peace Training Centre.

Reflecting on the journey since its inception in 1984, the commemoration ceremony provided a platform to honour the growth of Shincheonji and offer gratitude to God. Visionary plans for the upcoming year were unveiled, emphasizing the church’s commitment to societal service and its role as a beacon of light and a pillar of support.

Shincheonji’s Durban Branch decided that in order to rightfully close off their 40th-year commemoration, a Durban city clean-up was necessary. Thus, early on Saturday morning, 23rd March, more than 50 Durban church members descended on the streets of Durban in partnership with DSW for the scheduled clean-up.

As the saying goes, “cleanliness is next to Godliness.” Shincheonji Church Spokesperson Mr. Lindokuhle Dlamini expressed that the clean-up was a necessity as the city had been filled with trash from all corners. The saints of the Durban church felt that it was their duty to show love and consideration, firstly to the environment and secondly to all citizens, by ensuring a clean and safe environment. Mr. Dlamini continued to state that under the church’s tagline ‘WE ARE ONE,’ the church hopes to inspire and collaborate with other organisations to achieve the goal of inclusion, peace, and safety within our communities.

Mr. Dlamini concluded with thanks to the DSW team who agreed to partner with the church and provide protective personal equipment for all church volunteers. Dlamini expressed that having DSW was of great help in ensuring that the clean-up objectives were achieved with ease. In a private conversation, DSW workers expressed huge thanks to all Durban Shincheonji members who selflessly dedicated their Saturday morning in service to the Durban community. Their heartfelt devotion and dedication were greatly appreciated.
