Saturday the 24th of February saw a group of people flocking into the Kingfisher Canoe Club, dressed brightly and ready to catch the sun as it rises. Attendees of this Secret Sunrise dance and mediation session were left on a high; exhilarated and thrilled with dopamine running throughout the body.
First time secret sunrise attendee ‘Robyn Meloni’ from the Umhlanga Woman’s Achievers proclaimed to have been blown away by the event, saying the session went above and beyond her expectations. “It was so exhilarating, the movements, the exercise, the engagements and just the connecting with our friends, family and strangers has left us feeling on a high after the event. Really thrilling.“ Meloni expressed.
One the co-founders Grant Ross states that secret sunrise sessions were born out of the mandate to share positivity and joy to the world, offering a unique experience every time. With health and wellness in mind secret sunrise comes in two folds; i.e. Dance and Yoga.
On Saturday the 24th – with a valentines month of love inspired theme – Durban attendees were treated to a secret sunrise dance session like no other. Candice King whose the manager of secret sunrise Durban shared that everything is really about joy, connection and community. Bringing people together to find the joy, to feel the connection and have a sense of community; this is something she deems as essential in today’s brutal and unscrupulous world.
Secret Sunrise is made for all people, regardless of age, sex and background. As suggested in it’s name, the event starts before sunrise and provides an amazing opportunity to capture the beauty of sunrise, the sounds of chirping birds all whilst connecting, dancing or in a deep yoga session with fine tunes in your ear. An exhilarating experience indeed.
