Vernitas Kitchen – A dessert and baked goodies paradise. What was started by the owner as a hobby in 2017, is turning out to be a treats anchor in the busy roads of Florida, Durban.

The owner; Vernita Salligram, says that she comes from a large family, where her grandmother cooked and baked for them as kids to show them love. This explains her passion for baking and making feel good treats for the people of Durban. True to word – the cakes, muffins and treats at Vernitas will leave you wanting more.

Being a single mother to one beautiful girl; Vernita left behind her thriving career as a marketing manager, to fulfill her passion of baking. As her single most priority; to take care of her child. She is in hopes that she can impart entrepreneurial wisdom and the baking flare to her daughter who one day may take up the business.

Since the inception of the business – Vernitas Kitchen has been showcased and participated in markets such as the 031 Market, Umhlanga Arch Market and the house and garden show to name a few. Owing to the bake quality and pungent flavours, all baked goods were sold out almost instantly. Vernita continues to say that she is ever grateful to all people who have shown the heart and support towards her and her business.

Currently the business employs 4, very bubbly and energetic staff. According to Vernita she is very grateful for her staff and is determined to grow the business together with them. For Vernita everything is about quality and an experience. She feels that her and the staff make an awesome team in ensuring all things are prepared fresh every morning, they are checked and rechecked for quality and lastly ensuring that your walk through the golden gates of Vernitas Kitchen can be like a walk through to Heaven.

Vernita hopes to grow her business and that it may become a permanent feature on Florida and the to go to place for all things baked.
