Sebenza Women Awards empowers the youth to preserve the future

• Bookmarks: 46

The annual Sebenza Women Awards, an event focused on rewarding women, excellence and
showcasing their brilliance, strength, and achievements, has once again opened its doors for another
round of nominations.

The ceremony honours game-changers, leaders and innovators who are doing exceptional work in
society, from various fields and sectors. In a country where women have been previously
disadvantaged, these awards aim to identify, shine the spotlight, and reward female leaders,
innovators, game-changers and change-makers.

Kini Shandu, the Sebenza Women Awards founder and managing director, says “Our objective is to
empower women. We encourage them to do better and increase their employability chances and the
fair participation for economic opportunities,” Sandhu said.

Due to the lockdown restrictions announced by the President of the Republic of South Africa, Cyril
Ramaphosa on the 15 March 2020, this year’s ceremony will be different. All activities will be held
through various online platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, the Sebenza YouTube channel, Web-
based seminars, television, and radio.

From 16 June, all interested ladies should join the empowering initiative by sending their bios and
profiles to info@sebenzaawards.co.za or answer an online questionnaire available at www.sebenza.co.za and stand a chance to gain positive recognition, exposure, media attention and
win amazing prizes.

“We will be expecting applications from all women in different fields and sectors, from science, law,
finance to agriculture, sports, arts and culture, as well as other categories. We encourage all women to participate in this empowering initiative,” Shandu added.

This event also pays special attention to the youth, game-changers, and women from disadvantaged
communities striving to make the world a better place, especially for others.
